We know that navigating electricity plans can be tricky. That’s why we created The Power Plug. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for our members to enroll with an energy provider while saving time and money.

Below are a few questions that many of our members had before joining. If your questions aren’t answered here, please contact us and we’ll do our best to get you the information you need to make the right decision.

How do I Join The Power Plug?

Simply enter your information into our Membership Registration Form and that’s it. Membership is free! After you register you will receive a welcome email from our team including your account login details.

What happens after I become a member of The Power Plug?

We will use the information you provide, and our expert analysis, to pair you with the Energy Provider that has the best rate and best meets your needs.
You will receive an email from The Power Plug outlining our recommendations and Energy Provider enrollment details.
Upon completion of enrollment, you will receive an email from the Energy Provider with your account details.
You will also receive an email from The Power Plug confirming your Energy Provider enrollment. Enrollment details will also be listed in our membership portal.
Do I make my monthly electric bill payments to the Power Plug?

No. You will make payments directly to the Energy Provider. Many of our Energy Providers offer online payment options in addition to traditional methods.

What is an “ETF”

ETF stands for Early Termination Fee. Most fixed term energy contracts include an early termination fee. This fee is charged when a customer is under contract and service is canceled before the end of the contract term.

How do I know if I have an ETF?

You can contact your current provider. Also these fees are disclosed in your Terms of Service and Electric Facts Label (available from your current provider).

Couldn’t I just do this myself?

Yes, you could spend hours searching through complicated energy shopping sites looking at hundreds of plans. In fact, most people do and that’s why they are paying 25%-40% more than they should be. Our energy analysts have years of experience in navigating the increasingly complicated energy landscape. They know the pitfalls and how to avoid them for true energy savings.

Do your plans require a deposit?

Some energy providers may require a deposit depending on your credit score, kWh rate and selected plan.

What if I enroll and a deposit is required?

If a deposit is required you will receive details from the Energy Provider on how to make the deposit and activate your account. You will also receive an email from The Power Plug outlining your options.

What does my membership include?

As a member we will enroll you in the best plan, monitor your account and our Energy Provider’s rates. When your account comes up for renewal we will make sure you are enrolled in the best plan with the best rate.

Is my information safe?

Yes. We use the latest, encryption technology to keep your information secure. We never share your information with anyone other than the Energy Provider we pair you with.

Enrolling, Billing and Switching – How often will I get switched to another provider?

We enroll most of our members in 6-12-month plans. You will be billed directly by the Energy Provider. We will offer you options when your account is up for renewal.
